"Color IQ test!"

Thu Oct 30, 2008, 12:31 PM
For all you artists out there who DON'T keep up with the fabulousness that is drawn.ca:

Just a fun little test designed to see how well you can discriminate between colors. The lower the score, the better. There's no science behind it, it's really just for funsicles.

I got a four, discerning between purple and pink isn't my bag, apparently. XD See how you do!

In other news, I'm really kind've concerned over the fact that I draw cartoons but don't WATCH cartoons. It's been probably a year or two since I've actually sat down and WATCHED something on the telly, and I wonder what the trends are nowadays for cartoons concerning stuff like art direction, character design, color palettes, etc.

Basically, I guess I'm insecure and would like to compare my style (protip: I don't work in animation, but I would very much LOVE to one day) to what's on these days. Y'know, just to take hypothetical stabs at how other people could see my work and see where trends are going.

I take serious interest in cartoons lulz.

Holy crap Ryu...

I'm like the same way with recent cartoons and comics. Just haven't sat down to watch much in like a year and already my inspiration has been waning. And have had the same worries with my own style. Lol.
It's like the same with your aspirations on film making and the progress and internal development getting there. Same applies here. Stop being my twin darnit! XD

Seriously though however, you defenitely have a style of your own. Perhaps not watching so many cartoons is a good thing? Though being versatile with style is often a must particularly when working for most animation studios anyway.

I have RG color deficiency so yeah, sorta can't discern half those colors from the others, especially when they look so close.

This is a cool test : )

I got 3, with low discrimination being in the greens area (I love green colour though :S :P )
:iconsmokegirl:
haha, same here.. got a 3 with the greens being my not-good ones :p

Blimey I was a perfect zero! Get in! maybe that's why I'm paying more attention to colour choices recently.

And yes, watch more cartoons. A bunch of my faves noe on Youtube I noticed.

Life is full of questions, such as "where are the answers?"
:iconnoisefm:
I've been into watching the older Disney cartoon movies and Pixar shorts (provided for free to rent at your local artsy college with one enrollment).

Oh, and apparently I have perfect color vision.

P.S. Best Disney movie song ever?: [link]
